Section 3 ~ Hazard(s) Identification

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW: Hazardous in case of ingestion.  Slightly hazardous in case of skin contact (irritant, permeator), of  eye contact (irritant), of inhalation.

Route(s) of Entry: Inhalation, skin, ingestion, eye.

Eyes— Causes eye irritation, characterized by a burning sensation, redness, tearing, inflammation, and possible corneal injury.

Skin— Causes localized defatting, irritation, may be absorbed through skin with systemic effects.

Inhalation— Causes irritation to the respiratory tract, dizziness, drowsiness, CNS depression.

Ingestion— Causes gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, aspiration hazard.

Acute Health Hazards: N/A

Chronic Health Hazards:  May cause damage to the following organs: kidneys, liver, skin, CNS depression.

Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure:   Dermatitis, conditions of the kidneys, CNS disorders, liver, skin.

Section 4~ First Aid Measures

Eyes— Immediately flush with water for 15 minutes while holding eyelids open.  Seek immediate medical attention.  Cold water may be used.

Skin— Immediately wash with soap and water for 15 minutes.  Remove contaminated clothing and shoes.  Seek medical attention if irritation develops.

Inhalation— Move to fresh air.  If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen.  If not breathing administer artificial respiration.  Seek medical attention if irritation persists.

Ingestion— Do not induce vomiting unless directed by medical authority.  Immediately rinse mouth with water.  Drink large quantities (1 qt, 2-4 glasses) of water.  Seek medical attention if irritation develops.

Section 5 ~ Fire Fighting Measures

Flash Point (Method Used)

Flammable Limits

LEL

UEL

<100°F (TCC)

7.7

2.6

Extinguishing Media – Dry chemical, carbon dioxide, alchol foam, and water fog.

Special Fire Fighting Procedures – Wear NIOSH approved self-contained breathing apparatus with a full face piece operated in a positive pressure demand mode with full body protective clothing when fighting fires.  Use water spray only to cool exposed containers.  Shut off all sources of ignition.

Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards – Contents under pressure.  Exposure to temperatures above 120°F may cause bursting.  Combustible liquid.  Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames and other sources of ignition.

Section 6 ~Accidental Release Measures

Steps to be Taken in Case Material is Released or Spilled.

Spill: Stop leak if you can do so without risk.  Move the cylinder to a safe and open area if the leak is irreparable.  Stop the flow of material, if this is without risk.  Use a non-combustible material like vermiculite, sand or earth to soak up the product and place into a container for later disposal.  Prevent spill from entering sewers, storm drains, and natural waterways. Small Spills: Wipe up with absorbent material (e.g. cloth, fleece).  Clean surface thoroughly to remove residual contamination.

Section 7 ~ Handling and Storage

Precautions to be Taken in Handling and Storing –

Store in a cool, dry area.  Do not use or store near heat or open flames.  Exposure to temperatures above 120°D may cause bursting.  Do puncture or incinerate container.  Do not reuse empty container.  Wrap container and place in trash collection.  Keep out of reach of children.

Section 8 ~ Exposure Controls/Personal Protection

Respiratory Protection (Specify Type) –

Wear NIOSH/MSHA approved organic vapor respiratory protection if exposure limits are exceeded.

Ventilation

Ambient ventilation adequate.

Skin Protection –

Gloves

Eye Protection –

Splash goggles.
